Mission Trip
Dennis and I always planned on taking our boys some day to Ethiopia to experience their sisters birth country. Since a trip to Africa is very expensive, we expected to save for several years to make this dream a reality. However, as many of you know, the "Dennis and I" part of the dream changed DRAMATICALLY in 2010.
So for several reasons, I feel like now is the time for a trip to Africa. Primarily, for my boys. With the sudden loss of their father, their hearts are forever changed as evident in their not so bright eyes and their unsettled young souls. I pray that a mission trip will show them first hand the "least of these" and open their hearts to healing with eternal consequences. That the path God has laid before them is not the end of the road but rather the beginning of a new journey into a life of service for HIM. That although their hearts ache, so do the hearts of millions of others with circumstances much more desperate than theirs. But most of all, I pray a trip into the mission field will show them beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God has NOT forsaken them and that he loves them beyond all understanding.
I read somewhere recently that when you feel helpless, HELP SOMEBODY. By this, I pray that in the mission field, there is healing through service to others, for my boys.
So we have signed up to travel with Ordinary Hero on a mission trip this July!
Please pray for our family as we embark on the uncomfortable task of fundraising. We are selling t-shirts through Ordinary Hero to help supplement the cost of the trip estimated at around $9,000.
